I'm half black born and raised in a relatively white suburban area. Seeing shit like this is fucking hard. Seeing racist comments being towards people of my race is even harder, especially when there is some justification. It's pretty depressing thinking about where this snowball effect will take hard working, upstanding African Americans in the future. It's hard enough to land a job fairly when you put down your race on an application or resume, but if lower class dumbasses like this keep this shit up they are going to bring other minorities down with them. I don't want to spend 5 years on this engineering degree only to be passed over because an employer only sees me as a potential felon. The government has and will continue to impoverish black communities, rappers and the media will continue to give young black boys and girls unrealistic goals in life to sell pot and abandon their children. I don't see these types of people as one of my own anymore, in a couple more years I will be disenfranchised from the title "half black" all together. Im Cherokee indian. My people was mistreated and cast aside as badly or worse than any race out there. Hell they didnt make us slaves they just killed us for our lands. Moved the remaining to reservations and worse.
Yet you dont see our people screaming racism or going out scalping anyone because of our horrid past. A great people rise above their sorrows or learn to overcome them. Not stand around and scream for a hand out after the hand has been bitten.

The respective situations are subtle, but different. At least your people had already lived here for thousands of years before the whites showed up, rather than being displaced from halfway across the world. All of the US is a 'reservation' for African Americans, except mostly Europeans are living on them. Not trying to excuse anybody, but trying to add a perspective.

“I flew to Africa, right there, and I went to our undocumented president’s home,” Page says. “He was born in Kenya.”
According to CNN, authorities were concerned over remarks Page made indicating a willingness to kill.
“I personally believe in Jesus Christ as my lord and savior, but I’m also a killer,” Page says in the video. “I’ve killed a lot. And if I need to, I’ll kill a whole bunch more. If you don’t want to get killed, don’t show up in front of me. I have no problems with it. God did not raise me to be a coward.
On top of his suspension, Page was ordered to take a psychiatric exam. County Police Chief Jon Belmar also issued a public apology “to anybody that was offended” by Page’s remarks.
“He does not represent the rank-and-file of [the] St. Louis County Police Department,” Belmar told Lemon in an interview on Friday.
The footage also shows Page, a retired Vietnam veteran, saying he does not believe in hate crime laws, while also complaining about “sodomites” on the Supreme Court, “sodomites and females” entering the military, and blaming women for causing men to be arrested on domestic violence charges.
“Don’t be a waste of cops’ time,” Page says. “Just shoot each other and get it done.”
On Monday, Page was spotted pushing Lemon while he gave a live report during a protest criticizing the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown by a Ferguson police officer, Darren Wilson. Page was not wearing a badge or identification at the time.

When "Too Protect and too Serve" becomes "Military Police to intimidate and harass"

(Reuters) - Minutes before a police officer shot him dead, Michael Brown had become a suspect in the theft of cigars from a store, according to police reports released on Friday after days of protests in a St. Louis suburb over the unarmed black teenager's death.
But what, if anything, that had to do with the fatal encounter became less clear as the day went by. Hours after the reports' release, police said that Officer Darren Wilson, 28, had no idea 18-year-old Brown was a robbery suspect.
He simply wanted Brown to move from the road to the sidewalk, Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson said at a news conference "He was walking down the middle of the street blocking traffic. That was it," Jackson said. After nearly a week of accusations that the Ferguson Police Department did not know how to communicate with the public, Jackson did little to dispel that image during two appearances on Friday. He was visibly nervous, stuttering as he fumbled his notes, and made announcements that sowed more confusion. After releasing the robbery incident report without any attempt to explain its fuller context, he let more than five hours pass before confirming, and only when asked, that Wilson did not know about the robbery when he encountered Brown.
The decision by the police department, which is overwhelmingly white, to release a report on the robbery while keeping details of the shooting secret only added to the frustration felt by many in the St. Louis area. Still, as protests entered their sixth night on Friday there was far less tension than earlier in the week, before local forces were replaced by state police led by an African-American captain. Outside a burned-out building where protesters were shot with rubber bullets two days ago, the scene resembled a summer carnival.
Horns blew in support as cars drove past a crowd of people, many of whom brought picnic coolers. Hope Walker, 46, sat in a folding chair on the sidewalk with some friends. "It's more like a block party than what I was calling little Beirut," said the music teacher. Earlier Friday, after identifying Wilson as the officer involved in the shooting, the Ferguson police chief described him as a "gentleman" who has been devastated by the incident. Wilson worked four of his six years as an officer on the Ferguson police force, Jackson said. Wilson's identity has been kept a secret since the Aug. 9 shooting and authorities had been under mounting pressure to both identify the officer and to provide details about the investigation to ease unrest in the largely black community.
Since Saturday's killing, which took place shortly after noon on a street running through a quiet, tree-lined residential neighborhood, protesters have converged on Ferguson. Civil rights groups have complained that Brown's death is the latest in a long history of racial profiling and harassment by police, and discriminatory arrests. Some residents saw the police report on the robbery as the latest example of the pattern. "This is how the police operate here, they always defame the name of the victim," said area resident Arthur Austin, 39. "The more I hear, the less I trust what the police are saying." RALLY ON SUNDAY A Brown family attorney said it appeared to be Brown in the convenience store's security-camera footage, which showed a man shoving a store clerk during an apparent robbery.
Dorian Johnson, the friend who was with Brown that day, told the FBI and Justice Department officials about the robbery this week, his lawyer said. Anthony Gray, a Brown family attorney, said the talk of a robbery was a "distraction" raised by police. He said the real issue was why Wilson shot an unarmed Brown as the teenager held his arms in the air in a sign of surrender, as two witnesses described.
The Rev. Al Sharpton, president of the civil rights group National Action Network, issued a statement condemning what he called a "smear campaign" against the teenager. Sharpton said he would lead a rally on Sunday with Brown's family, who expressed outrage at the police report in a statement on Twitter. "There is nothing based on the facts that have been placed before us that can justify the execution style murder of their child by this police officer as he held his hands up, which is the universal sign of surrender," the statement said. When Johnson tells his story about the altercation with the police officer, he states that he sees the officers weapon through the window, then he sees the officer fire a shot at Brown's upper body. He continues to tell us then they began to run, after the first shots. Nowhere in his statements does he say that Brown throw his hands up and said "Hands Up, don't Shoot".
Johnson is clearly attempting to get fame and face time. The question is, why was only Brown shot and not Johnson, as they were together.
Chief Jackson, did not have the courtesy to meet with the Missouri State Patrol officer in charge at the request of the Governor. He showed no respect for the the chain of command and other officers.
We understand that it's politics to toss up a smoke screen to protect your fellow officers and the terrible deed that was done, causing the entire nation to question the tactics of a chief of police that polarized the situation.

Likely 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has made pointed comments on America's current foreign policy, putting some rare distance between herself and the Obama administration.
The 66-year-old - who was Obama's top diplomat during her time as Secretary of State - said she disagreed with the government's embattled approach to international affairs during an extended interview with The Atlantic magazine.
The interview was published as President Obama faces major backlash over the way he has handled the current crises in Israel, Ukraine, Syria and Iraq, Fox News reported.
'Great nations need organizing principles,' Clinton told The Atlantic.

Clinton has long advocated that more should have been done in Syria and those opinions in the memoir she wrote of her years in State Department called Hard Choices.
Clinton did say that Obama's mantra of 'don't do stupid sh--' was an attempt to assure the American people the government was 'not going to do anything crazy', but that she doesn't think that was the right approach.

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) called Obama’s response 'clearly very, very ineffective, to say the least', according to The New York Post.
'This is the possibility of a cataclysmic scenario,” McCain told CNN’s State of the Union.
He said the radical Islamist group is quickly spreading around the region.

Marianne Faithfull has stirred up the mystery surrounding Jim Morrison's death in a revealing new magazine interview, insisting her ex-boyfriend supplied the drugs that cost The Doors legend his life.
The singer/poet is alleged to have died of a heroin overdose in Paris in 1971, but as no autopsy was performed, the exact cause of his death is still disputed.
But now, in an explosive Mojo article, Faithfull has accused her ex-boyfriend, aristocrat Jean de Breiteuil, of supplying the drugs that killed Morrison.
She claims she knew something terrible was about to happen and chose to stay away from the apartment Morrison shared with his girlfriend Pamela Courson when de Breiteuil was planning a final visit.
Faithfull tells Mojo, "I could intuitively feel trouble. I thought, 'I'll take a few (sedative) Tuinal and I won't be there. And he went to see Jim Morrison and killed him."
But she insists the drug overdose was an accident: "The smack (heroin) was too strong? Yeah. And he died. And I didn't know anything about this. Anyway, everybody connected to the death of this poor guy is dead now. Except me."

"I could intuitively feel trouble," Faithfull recalled, resulting in her taking "a few Tuinal" and conking out. "He went to see Jim Morrison and killed him," she claimed. "I mean I'm sure it was an accident. Poor bastard."

As for Jean de Breiteuil? The former dealer died of an overdose in Morocco that same year. "He was a horrible guy, someone who had crawled out from under a stone," Faithfull recalled in her 2000 autobiography. "What I liked about him was that he had one yellow eye and one green eye. And he had a lot of dope. It was all about drugs and sex."
In the same interview with Mojo, Faithfull also discussed another fallen music legend, Amy Winehouse, who, like Morrison, also died at age 27. "Amy was very, very wary of me," Faithfull said. "She knew that I knew and she didn't want me to say anything. There's a level of narcissism which is all mixed up with self-hatred. I know it well.... But I can't think what I could have done apart from take her and shake her! 'You stupid little c---! Wake up!'"
Faithfull is back in the news as her new album, Give My Love to London, is released on Sept. 29.

She claims she knew something terrible was about to happen and chose to stay away from the apartment Morrison shared with his girlfriend Pamela Courson when de Breiteuil was planning a final visit.
Faithfull tells Mojo, "I could intuitively feel trouble. I thought, 'I'll take a few (sedative) Tuinal and I won't be there. And he went to see Jim Morrison and killed him."
But she insists the drug overdose was an accident: "The smack (heroin) was too strong? Yeah. And he died. And I didn't know anything about this. Anyway, everybody connected to the death of this poor guy is dead now. Except me."
Here's a shocking twist in rock 'n roll history.Marianne Faithfull claimed in a recent interview with Mojo magazine that Doors frontman Jim Morrison's 1971 Parisian bathtub death was, actually, a murder -- and it involved her ex-boyfriend Jean de Breteuil.
The singer/songwriter, 67, recalled that fateful summer when she traveled to France with de Breteuil, a heroin dealer whose clients included several high-profile celebs. Upon their arrival, Faithfull's beau told her he had to stop by the Lizard King's apartment, located at 17 Rue Beautreillis.
"I could intuitively feel trouble," Faithfull recalled, resulting in her taking "a few Tuinal" and conking out. "He went to see Jim Morrison and killed him," she claimed. "I mean I'm sure it was an accident. Poor bastard."
"The smack was too strong?" she speculated to herself. "Yeah. And he died. And I didn't know anything about this. Anyway, everybody connected to the death of this poor guy is dead now. Except me."
While Morrison is long gone, the numerous conspiracy theories regarding his death continue to thrive. At the time, French authorities decided to skip the autopsy as no foul play was believed to be suspected in his death.
As for Jean de Breiteuil? The former dealer died of an overdose in Morocco that same year. "He was a horrible guy, someone who had crawled out from under a stone," Faithfull recalled in her 2000 autobiography. "What I liked about him was that he had one yellow eye and one green eye. And he had a lot of dope. It was all about drugs and sex."
In the same interview with Mojo, Faithfull also discussed another fallen music legend, Amy Winehouse, who, like Morrison, also died at age 27. "Amy was very, very wary of me," Faithfull said. "She knew that I knew and she didn't want me to say anything. There's a level of narcissism which is all mixed up with self-hatred. I know it well.... But I can't think what I could have done apart from take her and shake her! 'You stupid little c---! Wake up!'"

The week was filled with various artists and guests who wanted to touch bases with the music industry, as internationally renown songwriter Kenneth Howard Smith whose former Motown Records catalog is presently under the control of Sony ATV-EMI Music and who pulls double duty as CEO and president of SDC OmniMedia Group that control a heavy internet radio presence with their SDC Radio Networks.
As a single internet playlist that ranks as one of the oldest and most requested stations that has KDTN Radio One receiving over 500 recordings per week worldwide attempting to get on one of the seven stations in the broadcasting groups slots, Smith still spreads the word that there is always room for one more good song.
With international former high school student athletes counselor, Karen Andrea Parker, the pair managed to squeeze in a couple of parties at the Great Lakes with artists, future students with plans for getting scholarships to various colleges and friends in the area. The dynamic duo ended up at the Taste of Chicago, where they sample foods from many of the city's great restaurants and music from Alo Bac and the Wailors.

New York close to settling Central Park jogger case, reportedly for $40 million
The proposed settlement of the racially sensitive case needs approval from the federal court and from city agencies including the office of Comptroller Scott M. Stringer.

“The Comptroller’s Office has received the proposed settlement between the City and the Central Park Five,” Eric Sumberg, the comptroller’s press secretary, said in an email. “As with all proposed settlements, under our Charter-mandated authority, we will do our due diligence and provide feedback to ensure that any settlement we approve is in the best interests of the City.”
Sumberg and other city officials would not discuss details of the proposed settlement, but a variety of media reports put the cost at $40 million. The New York Times first reported on the case on Thursday.

The proposed settlement averages roughly $1 million for each year of imprisonment for the five black and Latino men convicted in 1990 of raping and brutally beating a white woman jogging in Manhattan’s Central Park a year earlier. One defendant, Kharey Wise, served 13 years in prison and his share would be the largest such payout in the city’s history. The defendants became known as the Central Park Five.
The sensational case came at a time when New York was back on its heels at the tail-end of the Mayor Edward I. Koch years. Crime was a major issue and city services, including police, were still reeling from lack of funding caused by the city’s financial problems.
Middle-class whites were feeling besieged and dispossessed. They were angry at minorities who were being blamed even as blacks and Latinos were pushing for a piece of the political pie. The city’s first black mayor, David Dinkins, would be elected and take office in 1990 after a bitter Democratic primary and a tough polarizing race against Republican Rudy Giuliani, who would take the office four years later.

It was with race, crime and politics heavy in the air that a white woman who worked at a Wall Street investment bank went for her nighttime run on April 19, 1989, a practice that she had done before. She was found, badly beaten and raped, at 1:30 a.m. the next day and officials said they feared she would die. She eventually recovered.
Throughout the night, police said there had been roving bands of some two dozen black and Latino youths rampaging through the park, looking for victims in an earlier version of the so-called Knockout game that became infamous years earlier. In the modern version youths, usually minorities, were accused of attacking innocent victims, usually white, with a punch, trying to score points by knocking them out. In 1989, the youths, police said, were wolf packs and in a word that became part of the urban lexicon, said the blacks and Latinos had gone “wilding.”
The case was like a spark inflaming passions and fears -- and was fed by the tabloid press, mired in a fierce newspaper war. The mainstream media printed names and addresses of many of the suspects, which civil rights leaders said they did only because the defendants were minorities. In retaliation, the press that served the black community printed the name of the woman, whose identity was protected by the mainstream press.
Eventually, authorities narrowed the field to five suspects who were charged in the crime. From the beginning there were questions about the arrests and the police investigation.
“The first thing you do in the United States of America when a white woman is raped is round up a bunch of black youths, and I think that's what happened here,” the Rev. Calvin O. Butts of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem told the New York Times at the time.
Authorities charged Yusef Salaam, Antron McCray, Raymond Santana, Kevin Richardson and Wise. All were teenagers when convicted, largely because of statements they made to police. They served from 6 3/4 to 13 years in prison.
Their convictions were overturned in 2002, when Matias Reyes, a convicted serial rapist and murderer serving a prison sentence of 33 years to life, told authorities he alone attacked the jogger. DNA tests confirmed the confession. Reyes has not been prosecuted in the case because the statute of limitations had passed.
The five men filed a civil lawsuit against the city in 2003, saying their confessions were coerced. Former Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg's administration fought the lawsuit for 10 years and police insisted they acted properly in their investigation.
The Bloomberg years turned into the new government of Mayor Bill de Blasio, who ran against many of his predecessors’ positions including on race and police stop-and-frisk rules. Taking office in January, De Blasio said he wanted to settle the case.

Google may kick indie musicians off YouTube

Google (GOOG) says it has sealed deals with labels representing 95 percent of recorded in launching a pay music-streaming service. But reaching agreement with independent labels, producers and musicians could provider stickier.
The indies say Google's terms for including their music in the new subscription service are unfair. Playing hardball, Robert Kyncl, YouTube's head of content and business operations, told the Financial Times that the company will begin to block their music videos (paywall) "in a matter of days," with only those who have agreed to the streaming deal allowed to use YouTube's free services.
With the ubiquity of music marketing on the web, those free offerings are a major way consumers learn about new groups and musicians these days. Some of the musicians that could find their work removed include Adele, Arctic Monkeys and Jack White.
"Our goal is to continue making YouTube an amazing music experience, both as a global platform for fans and artists to connect, and as a revenue source for the music industry," Google said in a statement. "We're adding subscription-based features for music on YouTube with this in mind -- to bring our music partners new revenue streams in addition to the hundreds of millions of dollars YouTube already generates for them each year."
The company also said it is excited to be partnering with "hundreds of major and independent labels" on the new music service.
Kyncl also told the Financial Times that Google was "paying [labels] fairly and consistently with the industry." However, according to the Worldwide Independent Network, a trade organization of independent music companies, contracts offered to indie artists and labels aren't the same as those offered to the major labels.
Instead, WIN said in a blog post, its members have been presented with standard non-negotiable contracts that the group says "undervalue existing rates in the marketplace" from such streaming services as Spotify and Rdio. WIN members have also allegedly already received termination letters from YouTube.
WIN and two other groups -- the Featured Artists Coalition and European independents associated IMPALA -- have brought their complaints to the European Commission. They argue that YouTube is using market dominance to force the smaller labels into accepting "highly unfavorable terms."
One reason Google is pushing ahead with streaming music is because some of its biggest competitors, Apple (AAPL) and Amazon (AMZN), are also moving into the business. Apple bought Beats Electronics and has deals with the three major music labels, Warner Music Group, Sony Music and Universal Music Group.Amazon also started a music service this month. It's free to members of its Amazon Prime shopping club, although the new offering isn't offering music from Universal, the largest of the three big labels.
Amid such stiff competition, Google could suffer if fails to come to terms with independent music companies. Many big names in music start as unknowns before going on to enjoy mainstream success. Apple or Amazon could also erode YouTube's dominance in online videos by creating online hubs for the indie music scene.
