Lisa Kudrow Rips Sony Execs Over Leaked Emails: ‘Don’t Write Anything You Don’t Want Broadcast’ (Video)
The “Friends” and “Comeback” star had some harsh words for studio’s chief who had to apologize for language used in emails
Lisa Kudrow doesn’t feel all that sorry for Sony Pictures Entertainment executives whose email inboxes were stolen by hackers and then disseminated online.
“How come I know you don’t write anything you don’t want broadcast in an email?” Kudrow asked rhetorically during an interview with Huffington Post Live. “How come I know that? Who’s advising people?”
Kudrow was asked about the hacking which led to e-mails between Sony exec Amy Pascal and power producer Scott Rudin, among other people, being leaked online. The leaks prompted both Pascal and Rudin to publicly apologize after it was discovered the two engaged in racially-tinged jokes about President Barack Obama over e-mail.
“It doesn’t matter how many times it says ‘This is confidential, meant for just between the sender and the recipient,'” said Kudrow. “Why don’t we know that there are no rules? Everything is broadcast and published. That’s the part I just don’t understand.”
Kudrow has gone on record before saying that she hopes the loss of privacy in today’s culture can help everyone become better people.
“There’s a reason we have close, intimate friends that you can share things that you’re vulnerable about with other people, because you know that they will keep your confidences,” she said. “I think we need to have more boundaries and accountability and a little personal responsibility for what we say.”
